Yelnya is the largest raised bog in Belarus and the fifth in Europe. Its total area is 25 301 hectares. There are 118 amazingly beautiful lakes on its territory. Yelnya is called "Belarusian tundra" in the very heart of Europe which preserves unique species of birds and plants peculiar to tundra zones. No wonder Yelnya has become a popular tourist destination. It's N1 ecological route in Belarus. Welcome to Yelnya's special world of harmony and serenity!

  • The guide will tell you about tundra species of birds included into the Red Data Book of Belarus. You'll listen to sweet voices of the Willow Grouse, the Golden Plover, the Black-Throated Loon, the Common Crane and other birds.
  • You'll see the rare tundra species of plants: the Cotton Grass, the Bog Rosemary (or Andromeda, The Labrador Tea; the Cloudberries, the Dwarf birches, the Common Sundew, the English Sundew and other plants and listen to beautiful legends about them.
  • You'll see how cranberries ripen and pick them up in autumn.
  • You'll watch more than 5 000 Common Cranes in the nearby fields and their exciting flight to Yelnya Bog from the observation tower during their autumn migration.
  • You'll go along the boardwalk and see how the largest raised bog was formed and watch its mysterious landscape.
  • You'll admire a unique water-bog complex – a top evolution of a raised Yelnya Bog, find your dzen, catch an amazing  Yelnya's vibe and open the door to Yelnya's enchanting world of special beauty.
  • There will be an ecological quize at the end of the excursion with a set of beautiful postcards and woolen gifts – cranberries and common cranes – the brands of Miory Region.
Yelnya National Landscape Reserve

An International Ramsar Site since 2002; an Important Bird Area (IBA) since 1981; an Important Plant Area (IPA) since 2005. Yelnya Bog is 12 970 years old which was formed in the result of the Valday Glacier melting. Yelnya is included into the list of 150 the cleanest places on the Planet. One hectare of Yelnya produces oxigen 14 times more than one hectare of a forest. That's why Yelnya Bog is called "The Lungs of Europe".

  • The length of the route – 5km; the duration of the excursion – 3,5-4 hours.
  • You should take with you a bottle of water, some snacks, a cap, a raincoat, rubber boots, field-glasses.
